NEW Reactor Alloy and ST

REACTOR ST COOKIES AND CREAM

Versatility has always been the trump card of the Reactor. Be that a short travel trail hooligan, dual slalom trickster or mile munching adventure set up.
The ST (short travel) is a specification of Nukeproof’s 2021 Trail Bike of the year: The Reactor. Using the same award winning T700/ 800 all Carbon frame, the 290c rear travel is reduced to 125mm and features a lighter weight build, targeted towards riders that want to get out for epic rides and overnight adventures. The specification of the Reactor 290c ST creates a bike that is extremely efficient when on the pedals, but more than capable when tackling technical terrain.

As with the rest of the Reactor range, the 290c ST is fitted with a geometry altering flip chip, offering riders both ‘Trail’ and ‘Rail’ modes. Trail (66.8 degree head angle paired with a 76.3 seat angle) for longer days and ultra-efficient climbing, with Rail (66.3 degree head angle and a 75.8 degree seat angle) making the geometry more aggressive for descending.

Out back the 290c ST is fitted with a 125mm Fox Float DPS factory shock. Paring this with the Reactors 4 bar horst linkage make for an efficient pedaller.

The kinematics of the Reactor offer higher levels of anti-squat for when in the climbing gears, with the anti-squat level decreasing as you drop down the cassette.
Up front the Reactor ST comes with a Fox 34 Float Factory fork with 130mm of travel giving the Reactor ST a well-controlled and precise feel.
Both Cookies and Cream spec bikes come with Shimano’s awesome 12 speed XT drive train. Key differences on the two models come in the brakes department.

The Cookie Dough Reactor coming with lightweight Shimano XT 2-pot set up and the Cream (White) Reactor 290c ST coming with the 4- pot performance of the Hayes Dominion brakes. Both Cookie and crème feature 180mm rotors to keep confidence high when trails get loose.

To reduce rotational mass the ST comes fitted with Reynolds TR 309/ 289 XC carbon wheels. These lightweight wheels are designed for aggressive XC trail riding and feature low profile and wide channel rim riders will notice increased cornering speed, direct power transfer, and improved compliance. The Reynolds TR MTN hubs provide 10° of engagement for quick power delivery.

They are also backed by a lifetime warranty from Reynolds. These are wrapped in a Maxxis combo of Minion DHF up front with an Aggressor out back.

The ST 290c is a perfect mix of trail hooligan and XC sophistication- is that what people are calling “down country”?

REACTOR ALLOY PRO AND COMP 290 AND 275
Sharing the geometry form the carbon version of the 275 and 290 Reactor, the Reactor is also available as a hydroformed 6061 triple butted aluminium frame and build kits (to reduce unsprung mass, the alloy version still retains carbon seat stays).

New for this year is the PRO model in two colours: Turmeric Yellow or Rosso Red. The Reactor PRO is specified to be a “wee trail hooligan”, fun and playful on both ascent and descent. With a 150mm Rockshox Lyrik Select+ to take the hits paired with a custom tuned Rockshox Super Deluxe Select+ out.

The PRO features a SRAM GX 12 speed drive train, with the huge range of 10-52t. Combining the clever suspension kinematics of the Reactor with the huge 10-52t range cassette support the climbing prowess of the Reactor. The frame also features the “trail/ Rail” flip chip. This allows riders the option to drop the bottom bracket 6mm and slacken the head angle by half a degree in the “rail” mode.

Joining the alloy range is the 290 COMP model. The COMP uses the same alloy frame as the PRO, but with an alternative specification. The COMP pairs a custom tuned Marzocchi Bomber Air shock with sweep adjust out back with the awesome Marzocchi Bomber Z2.

For 2023 there will be two specifications of COMP Reactor 290 with a Shimano Deore 12 speed drivetrain model being joined in July 2023 by a specification featuring the award winning Microshift Advent-X 10 speed drivetrain. Coming in at around 868g in total the Microshift system is lighter weight and has won numerous awards thanks to its efficient performance.

For home mechanics the 10-speed set up is easy to maintain and its wider operating range. The Microshift 10-48t cassette will have you ascending trails with ease.
