New Signing Bloeme Kalis Shines with Immediate World Series Podium in La Thuile

Last weekend, the fifth round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series took place in La Thuile, Italy. It proved to be a memorable weekend for the KMC Nukeproof MTB Racing Team, as new signing Bloeme Kalis made an immediate impact. Making her debut in the team's colours, the talented Dutch rider claimed a silver medal in the XCC before following it up with an impressive tenth place in the XCO.

La Thuile joined the UCI World Series calendar for the first time this season, presenting a fresh challenge for the world's best mountain bikers. Just days after officially being announced as the newest addition to the KMC Nukeproof MTB Racing Team, Bloeme Kalis lined up for her first races with the squad. The young Dutch talent, who had already impressed this season with a World Series Short Track victory in Lenzerheide and strong performances in Leogang and Nové Město, immediately confirmed her outstanding form.

In the U23 Short Track (XCC), Kalis delivered a superb performance, sprinting to the silver medal, just eighteen seconds behind winner Valentina Corvi. In doing so, she secured another World Series podium finish for the team. She continued her strong weekend in the Olympic Cross-country race (XCO), where she finished in an excellent tenth place.

Rens Teunissen Van Manen Back in the Top 10

Carla Hahn endured a less fortunate XCC race. She was forced to retire early due to a mechanical problem, which was a major disappointment for both the rider and the team. As a result, all attention shifted to Sunday's XCO race.

The men's squad also produced solid performances. Rens Teunissen Van Manen finished ninth in the U23 XCO, earning another top-ten result in the UCI World Series. In the Elite race, Julian Schelb delivered a strong performance to finish eleventh, just outside the top ten. Tyler Orschel crossed the line in 32nd after suffering a crash during the XCO, although fortunately his injuries were not serious. Kelsey Urban was the team's only female Elite rider and completed her race in 33rd place.

With a World Series podium for its newest signing, another top-ten finish for Rens Teunissen Van Manen, and several strong performances across the team, the KMC Nukeproof MTB Racing Team can look back with satisfaction on its weekend in Italy. The team has now travelled to Andorra, where the sixth round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series will take place this coming weekend.
